Where stories begin
Nestled between the deep blue sea and icy mountain ranges, the seaport city of Vancouver is a truly urban hub with the added benefit of being surrounded by glorious Canadian nature. Consider it a base for both city exploration and outdoor adventure.
To kick things off, make your way up to Vancouver Lookout, where you can breathe in incredible 360-degree views of the city’s downtown area. You’ll quickly see why it’s one of North America’s most stunning cities.
If you can’t travel without spoiling yourself with exquisite cuisine, rest assured that Vancouver is a foodie’s dream. The city’s cosmopolitan setting means it boasts culinary specialities including fresh seafood (try the Pacific Northwest salmon), fusion meals and charcuterie, a local favourite. Chinatown is always a must, with its cornucopia of fresh fruits, spicy Dim Sum and exotic dried seafood. Once you’ve filled yourself up, walk it out in the oh-so-tranquil Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Classical Chinese Garden.
A visit to Vancouver cannot be complete without braving the iconic Capilano Suspension Bridge, which stretches 140-metres across a deep river gorge. This walk is both an opportunity to experience the natural glory of Canada, as well as high-adrenaline thrills.
For even more adventure, take the ferry across the Georgia Strait to Vancouver Island. Be sure to marvel at the sweeping coastal vistas along the way. Located on the southern tip of Vancouver Island is Victoria, the capital of British Columbia. The city offers a variety of restaurants, craft breweries and cafés, as well as the Royal B.C. Museum and Parliament Buildings. Find yourself in nature with a stroll in the renowned Butchart Gardens, where more than a million plants can be found. If that’s not enough, venture out on a whale-watching cruise and try your luck spotting orca, humpback and grey whales in their natural habitat.
