With a destination to explore every single day, plenty of highlights – from iconic tulip fields in full bloom to world-famous diamonds and chocolates – awaiting discovery in each, and relaxing evenings of scenic cruising aboard Bolette to enjoy too, this five-night escape to Holland and Belgium makes for a rewarding Bank Holiday city break.
Your smaller ship will sail to Rotterdam, where the sight of the Erasmusbrug Bridge is bound to impress, and a fantastic collection of museums, galleries and futuristic architectural gems are yours to discover ashore: the unusual Markthal and Cube Houses are particular highlights. Then, after a peaceful navigation of the Nieuwe Maas, it’s on to the Dutch capital, Amsterdam. Your visit to this effervescent city is timed to afford an opportunity to explore the Keukenhof Gardens, an invigorating feast for the senses at this time of year. The famous tulips fields will be in seasonal full bloom, bursting with vibrant colour and sweet floral fragrance. Alternatively, you could use your time to take in world-famous attractions, such as the haunting Anne Frank House, the Van Gogh Museum and the grand mansions of the UNESCO-listed Canal Ring; or opt to take to Amsterdam’s iconic canals. A boat tour of the city, passing underneath low bridges and through charming districts, is an unforgettable way to see the sights.
Soon after departing Amsterdam via the North Sea Canal, you then reach Antwerp for an overnight stay in Belgium’s sparkling second city. You’ll have ample time to uncover Antwerp’s gems at your own pace, and Bolette will dock in the heart of the destination: The main square, Grote Markt, with its intricate 16th century guildhouses, and the mighty Cathedral of our Lady are just some of the highlights reassuringly close-by. The Royal Museum of Fine Arts and the legendary Diamond District are amongst Antwerp’s most prized possessions; you can seek them out on all-encompassing walking tours that also afford opportunities to sample delicious, traditionally made Belgian chocolates too. Antwerp is also an ideal starting point for captivating tours to the attractions and artisan chocolatiers of nearby Ghent too.
Days marked above with an anchor include ports where you will be transferred to shore by landing boat. These ports may be inaccessible for customers with mobility difficulties as a result. Any days not listed will be spent at sea.
