The Azores’ remote, verdant lands of emerald-green terrain, steaming hot springs, lush laurel forests, vibrant botanical gardens and incredible wildlife are hard-to-reach. But, thanks to Bolette, you’ll get to explore three beautiful Azorean islands and discover inspirational experiences and spectacular sights galore on one enriching, exhilarating, simply unforgettable cruise adventure.
Awe-inspiring scenes, natural wonders and cultural highlights await throughout your time in the Azores. On Terceira Island, Praia da Vitoria is perfectly placed for tours to Angra do Herosimo. The UNESCO-listed jewel in Terceira’s crown, this historic city boasts interesting museums and impressive architecture such as the 16th century Sé Cathedral. The 205 metre-high Monte Brasil volcano, which overlooks Angra do Herosimo, offers wonderful sea views from its peak. Hard-to-reach Faial Island follows. Faial is a paradise of volcanic craters, tranquil lakes and emerald green valleys; Horta is your starting point for taking it all in. The Capelinhos Volcano is this verdant island’s most famous landmark and on scenic island drive and 4x4 adventure tours you can see this magnificent wonder in all its dramatic glory.Read more
There’s the volcanic treasures of São Miguel Island to uncover too. Ponta Delgada is your gateway to the extinct Sete Cidades Volcano – one of the seven wonders of Portugal – where a 13-kilometre-wide crater and colourful lakes create the Azores’ most astonishing scene. Elsewhere, Terra Nosta Park – a haven of gorgeous gardens, geo-thermal pools and dense woodlands that are home to stunning endemic flora – is within reach, as are the hot springs of Furnas Valley. Complementing your island discovery are visits to captivating cities in Spain and mainland Portugal. Calls La Coruña, Lisbon and Vigo will provide a wealth of attractions and ‘must do’ experiences, from a chance to tour to the iconic Santiago de Compostela cathedral to discovering the history of the Jerónimos Monastery.
Days marked above with an anchor include ports where you will be transferred to shore by landing boat. These ports may be inaccessible for customers with mobility difficulties as a result. Any days not listed will be spent at sea.
